Main causes of catalytic converter failure:

Engine tuning: incorrect air/fuel mixture, wear on spark plugs, etc.

Unburnt fuel in the catalytic converter: misfiring, inadequate regulation of the intake mixture, etc., can lead to clogging of the ceramic monolith and even to its melting.

Excessive oil consumption: clogging of the monolith, causing an excess of particles in the engine.

Knocks on the catalytic converter: breakage of the ceramic monolith.

What to do to correct these faults:

Ensure correct fitting and sealing of the catalytic converter and air cleaner and its constituent parts.

Check the cause of failure on the original catalytic converter to be replaced and correct it.

Check the lambda sensor and, if necessary, replace it with a new one.

Tune up the engine (correct tuning).

Replace damaged or worn spark plugs.

The average life of a catalytic converter is approximately 80,000 Km, before installing a new catalytic converter, FIX THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE INITIAL CATALYST FAILURE, if your vehicle has caused a failure in the emission of gases, the simple fact of replacing the catalytic converter without checking other possible failures could cause the failure in the new catalytic converter or an incorrect gas reading.
